1. Contemporary Arts Center: Home to one of New Orleans’ most important cultural institutions, The Shop, The Stacks Bookstore, The Cafe at the CAC, and an ever-increasing number of live events and programs. 2. National World War II Museum: A Smithsonian-affiliated, highly-awarded museum covering all facets of World War II. Welcomes over 700,000 visitors annually. 945 Magazine St.
3. Julia Street: The heart of the Warehouse/Arts District features dozens of galleries, shops, and restaurants.
4. Ace Hotel: A recently-renovated Art Deco gem featuring multiple restaurants and bars, retailers, a cafe, barbershop, gallery, and lounge areas including a rooftop pool and garden open to both guests and the general public alike. 600 Carondelet St.
5. Poeyfarre Market: A small market owned by two neighborhood brothers featuring groceries, daily pre-made meals perfect for a quick lunch, and coffee service. 925 Poeyfarre St.
6. Lafayette Square: Beautiful green space right in the heart of Downtown. Located directly on St. Charles Ave. across from historic Gallier Hall, an important Carnival hub as well as a beautiful backdrop for the Wednesday at the Square concert series that takes place each spring.
7. Emeril’s: The flagship restaurant of acclaimed chef Emeril Lagasse, which has earned rave reviews for its contemporary New Orleans cuisine and wine selection since 1990. 800 Tchoupitoulas St.
8. Peche: 2014 James Beard Award winner for Best New Restaurant in America. Serves up seafood and oysters daily inspired by the cooking of South America, Spain, and the Gulf Coast. 800 Magazine St.
9. Rusty Nail: A true neighborhood bar located on the edge of the Warehouse and Lower Garden Districts on the Downtown side of the Pontchartrain Expressway. Offers a wide selection of drinks, live events, and a large patio perfect for watching sports. 1100 Constance St.
10. Courtyard Brewery: Located just outside the Warehouse District, Courtyard was the first nano-brewery in New Orleans when it opened in 2014. Features their own beers and a selection of drafts from around the world for the public to enjoy either in the taproom or the namesake courtyard. 1020 Erato St.
